University of Sargodha Expands Global Academic Ties with China

Sargodha: The Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Qaisar Abbas, recently met with Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider to discuss the university’s academic achievements, research advancements, and development plans. The meeting highlighted the university’s efforts to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, alongside its expanding international collaborations.

According to University of Sargodha, Prof. Abbas shared that the university serves over 25,000 students and an equal number in affiliated colleges. He emphasized the role of the institution’s incubation center in promoting student-led business initiatives. A significant point of discussion was the university’s growing academic partnership with China, marked by plans to establish a joint campus in Henan province—a pioneering move for any public university in Pakistan. This collaboration includes agreements for joint research, technology centers, and degree programs in fields such as technology, maritime education, and digital innovation.

Further, Prof. Abbas discussed a proposed international hospital project in Sanya, China, which aims to enhance the university’s global footprint. Highlighting student success, he mentioned a recent job fair where over 500 final-year students secured employment and internships with reputable organizations.

Governor Haider emphasized the role of quality education and research in elevating Pakistan’s international academic reputation. He expressed support for initiatives that contribute to regional and national development and praised the university’s international linkages and efforts to equip students with skills relevant to contemporary demands.
