Gilgit-Baltistan: The University of Haripur recently held a ceremony to commemorate the Independence of Gilgit-Baltistan, featuring distinguished guests, including Raja Nasir Ali Khan, Minister of Planning and Development. The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiq ur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Abid Farid, Registrar Mr. Riaz Mohammad, as well as chairpersons, deans, heads of departments, faculty members, and students, particularly those from Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to The University of Haripur, the ceremony focused on highlighting the history of Gilgit-Baltistan and expressing patriotism towards Pakistan. The chief guest, Mr. Raja Nasir Ali Khan, congratulated the students from Gilgit-Baltistan on their Independence Day and offered his support in addressing any challenges they might face.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiq ur Rahman expressed his gratitude to Mr. Raja Nasir Ali Khan for attending the event. He also congratulated the Chairman of Gilgit-Baltistan Youth Council, President Shabbir Ahmed, and his team for the event’s success. Dr. Rahman assured the audience of the university’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for all students, highlighting the availability of faculty, staff, and counseling services to assist students in their academic and personal challenges.
Dr. Rahman acknowledged the students from Gilgit-Baltistan for their courage and contribution to the university’s community, recognizing them as ambassadors of their provinces. He reaffirmed the university’s solidarity with them and its role in shaping a bright future, emphasizing the importance of character, culture, and civilization in the educational journey.
