University of Chitral Concludes Successful Teaching Enhancement Workshop

Chitral: The University of Chitral (UoCh) recently wrapped up its second Teaching and Learning Enhancement Workshop (TLEW), a part of its ongoing University Improvement Program aimed at elevating educational standards.

According to University of Chitral, the workshop, held from August 26-28, 2024, was conducted in collaboration with the Network of Quality, Teaching, and Learning (QTL_net) at Aga Khan University and involved Instructional Skills Workshop facilitators from Karakoram International University. These facilitators have been trained by QTL_net and brought a certified approach from the Instructional Skills Workshop Network in Canada, focusing on learner-centered teaching methods.

The event featured a mix of large and small group sessions that emphasized active learning and effective lesson planning. Since the inception of this collaborative effort in 2022, the partnership between KIU and UoCh has significantly contributed to faculty development and academic quality enhancement in northern Pakistan. This year’s workshop saw 18 participants, bringing the total to 62% of UoCh faculty who are now trained to apply these advanced teaching practices for better student engagement and learning outcomes.
