Rawalpindi Concludes Week of Remembrance with Calls for Unity and Protection of Mourning Traditions

Rawalpindi: The “Week of Remembrance” honoring Hazrat Imam Hasan Askari concluded in Rawalpindi with a strong commitment to uphold mourning traditions and promote unity among Sunni and Shia communities. The nationwide program, established by Quaid-e-Mulat-i Jafariya Aghasid Hamid Ali Shah Mousavi, emphasized brotherhood and mutual respect during the days from Muharram al-Haram to Rabi al-Awwal.

According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the main procession in Rawalpindi witnessed significant participation as mourners paraded from Imambargah Makti Ali Shah Bohar Bazar, engaging in rituals of consecration and mourning. Leaders addressed the gatherings, reiterating the significance of Hazrat Imam Hasan Askari’s life as a guiding light for humanity and stressed the importance of maintaining mourning practices despite governmental restrictions.

The events highlighted the communal and educational aspects of the remembrance, with leaders like Qamar Haiderzaidi advocating for the protection of religious processions as shared heritage that fortifies the bond between different Islamic schools of thought. The week also marked a period of reassurance for ongoing unity, with plans to celebrate Sunni and Shia brotherhood explicitly during upcoming events from 12th to 17th of Rabi al-Awwal.

Special prayers were conducted across major cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, focusing on the prosperity of Islam and the stability of Pakistan, culminating in a collective pledge to safeguard the tradition of mourning at all costs.
