Lahore: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Business Incubation Centre (BIC) hosted the Tabeer Onsite Workshop at its City Campus, a key event under a project launched by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) and the U.S. State Department. The initiative aims to enhance the capacities of Business Incubation Centers across public sector universities in Pakistan.
According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, the workshop was presided over by Prof Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science. The event saw notable attendees including Ms. Monica Brinn, a Foreign Service Officer from the U.S. State Department, who served as the chief guest. The gathering was further enriched with the presence of Prof Dr. Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean Faculty of Biosciences, Sajjad Hyder, Registrar, and Dr. Muhammad Hayat Jaspal, Director of BIC, alongside senior faculty from various departments and representatives from LUMS.
During the workshop, discussions focused on fostering exchange of expertise and mentorship to train BIC personnel and enhance their ability to support faculty-led startups. Ms. Brinn emphasized the importance of setting smart goals for these startups and acknowledged the progress of the initiatives as explained by BIC officials. Dr. Jaspal highlighted the role of UVAS’s BIC in empowering upcoming business leaders and innovators with necessary tools, resources, and mentorship to transform their ideas into impactful businesses.
The event underscored UVAS’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial skills through various initiatives, including pre-incubation training programs, campus-wide entrepreneurial galas, business plan competitions, and virtual incubation, aimed at mobilizing students and broadening their entrepreneurial prospects.
