UET Lahore Celebrates 43rd Annual Athletics Championship

Lahore, The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, recently concluded its 43rd Annual Athletics Championship, held from May 7th to 9th, 2024. The event, sprawling over three days, featured a wide range of athletic competitions, drawing enthusiastic participation from students across various departments.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the championship included track events like 100m and 200m sprints, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m races, and the 4x100m relay. Gymkhana events such as sack races, slow cycling, and musical chairs added a fun and competitive element, while throw events like discus, hammer, shot put, and javelin, along with jump events like hop-step-jump, high jump, and long jump, tested the athletes’ skills in more traditional sports.

Mr. Ayaan Mushtaq from the Civil Engineering Department was declared the Best Athlete of the University, receiving a cash prize and trophy. Mr. Muddasir Ali from the Mining Engineering Department secured the second place. The Electrical Engineering Department won the General Trophy for the Winner, with the Chemical Engineering Department coming in as the runner-up.

The event’s closing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shoaib, Dean of Electrical Engineering, and other distinguished faculty members, who distributed awards and university colors to the standout athletes. The successful event underscored UET Lahore’s commitment to promoting sports and physical well-being among its students.
