Lahore, 16 Oct 2023: The University of Central Punjab (UCP) Welfare Society recently hosted a seminar titled “Social Welfare Scenario of Pakistan.” The event witnessed participation from 120 NGOs, providing a comprehensive platform for discourse on the nation’s social development landscape and the pivotal role of volunteering.
Dr. Hadia Awan, Pro-Rector of UCP, inaugurated the seminar with a warm welcome to all participants, emphasizing the significance of the social development sector within Pakistan. Detailing the university’s commitment to social upliftment, Mr. Muhammad Hammad Ur Rehman, Deputy Director of VIS and Patron of the Welfare Society, spotlighted the initiatives undertaken by UCP and the VIS department to champion volunteerism and broader societal advancement.
Several prominent figures in the realm of social welfare graced the seminar with their insights. Mr. Sarfaraz Ahmad Kazmi, representing UNFPA, Mr. Shahid Lone from ALLAH WALAY TRUST, Ms. Javeria Sultan of MIGRANT RESOURCE CENTRE, Mr. Faisal Ilyas from PEACE HOPE FOUNDATION, and Mr. Kashf Shah, the Program Director of MILKAR PAKISTAN, all elaborated on the current social welfare state in Pakistan. They collectively highlighted the instrumental role NGOs play in shaping the development trajectory of the country. The seminar’s chief guest, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Mangat, Vice President of AL-KHIDMAT FOUNDATION, further enriched the discourse with his perspective.
