Turbat, Mr. Changiz Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Political Science Department at the University of Turbat, presented a significant paper on the challenges to women’s political empowerment in the Makran Division of Balochistan. His presentation was part of a two-day Hybrid International Conference on Democracy, Governance, and Sustainability, hosted by the University of Punjab, Lahore from May 15 to 16, 2024.

According to University of Turbat, the paper, presented via video link on May 16, examined the multifaceted barriers that hinder women’s active participation in politics within the region. These challenges span cultural, religious, economic, and social spheres, outlining a complex landscape that women must navigate to engage in political affairs.

The university community, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, congratulated Mr. Ahmed on his contribution to the international dialogue on democracy and governance, emphasizing the importance of addressing these critical issues in the pursuit of sustainable governance and enhanced democratic participation.
