Oath Taking Ceremony and Dinner of Vets Care Club arranges at UVAS 

Lahore, January 16, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Vets Care Club (VCC) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organised 21st oath-taking ceremony and Dinner here at the City Campus.

Vice-Chancellor University of Education Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the oath-taking ceremony and administered oath to the new office-bearers of the Vets Care Club. Principal Students Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani and many representatives from pharmaceutical industries were present. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha congratulated the new office bearers. He lauded VCC services for the welfare of animal and the uplift of veterinary profession.

UVAS arranges Entrepreneurial Gala

Lahore, January 16, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Department of Economics and Business Management (DEBM) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged an Entrepreneurial Gala here in UVAS Business School on Monday. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad inaugurated the Entrepreneurial Gala while Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Muhammad Azam, Chairman (DEBM) /UVAS Business School Prof Dr Rana Muhammad Ayyub and a large number of faculty members and students were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that objective of the gala was to promote entrepreneurial skills in students to start their own businesses. He also acknowledges the role of students who actively participated in the gala and displayed their varieties of products related to foods (carbonated drinks, rice, fruit salad, cold coffee, seed, chopped packed vegetables), cloths (dust coat, dress, track suit) and cosmetics (perfume, cream, gift) etc. and innovative ideas for business. The main purpose of this event was to provide the students of DEBM a platform to showcase their micro start-ups innovative ideas and skills.

5-Days hands-on training on ‘Cheese Making’ complete at UVAS

Lahore, January 13, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L and DD) under the project of ‘Capacity Building of dairy farmers and industry stakeholders on milk value chain’ organised concluding ceremony of five days hands-on training on cheese making.

Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and Director General Research Livestock Department Dr Sajjad co-chaired the concluding ceremony of training and distributed certificates among participants while Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 25 participants/professionals from public and private sectors including dairy farmers, veterinary officers, dieticians and consultants were present.

During five days training experts imparted theoretical, practical knowledge, techniques and skills to participant regarding food safety management systems in dairy industry, introduction of cheese and role of pasteurization in cheese production, practical demonstration and production of soft, hard and artisan cheese, nutritional facts and health benefits of cheese, fostering entrepreneurship through business incubation, industry analysis, market strategy, promotion and advertisement of cheese variants etc.

Earlier, Prof Dr Kauser Abdullah Malik paid a visit to recently establish Genomic Centre of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad welcomed the delegate and briefed about the establishment of Genomic Centre in Parasitology Department under HEC Pakistan’s funding in GCF-273. Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Principal Investigator Prof Dr Imran Rashid and Dr Haroon Akbar were also present on the occasion. Prof Kauser visited the Genomic Centre of Parasitology and appreciated the team of Prof Imran working under the leadership of Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad and Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf.

Vice-Chancellor National Skills University, Islamabad paid visits at UVAS

Lahore, January 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):Earlier Vice-Chancellor from National Skills University Islamabad Prof Dr Mukhtar along with faculty members visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad at City Campus.

Prof Nasim Ahmad briefed Prof Dr Mukhtar on the UVAS academic, research, extension, advisory services and training programmes. He showed a UVAS video documentary to Prof Mukhtar to give an overview of UVAS research, development interventions and student strength along with national and international collaboration etc.

Motivational lecture on Internship importance at UVAS 

Lahore, January 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):Institute of Microbiology (IOM) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged a motivational lecture on ‘Internship Importance’ here at City Campus on Tuesday. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad delivered a detailed lecture to students of microbiology and medical lab technology degrees.

He urged students to avail maximum opportunities of learning innovative knowledge, hands-on skills and practical experiences related to their studies for the enhancement of practical competencies. He said internship is key to leading jobs in any organizations. He also advised students to prepare your presentations in well manners and internship provides you confidence, capacity building of abilities to excel in your concerning fields.

UVAS holds national symposium on ‘Effects of Flood on Agriculture and Livestock Sector: How to recover through agri-banking and finance’

Lahore, January 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged National Symposium on ‘Effects of Flood on Agriculture and Livestock Sector: How to recover through agri-banking and finance’ at City Campus on Tuesday.

Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman chaired concluding session and distributed certificates among the resource persons of the symposium while Assistant Director HQ Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticide Govt of Punjab Dr Sabin Fatima, Head Agriculture Credit Division Bank of Punjab Mr Sarfraz Hussain, Chairperson Department of Biological Sciences Dr Mubashra Munir, Programme Coordinator Biological Sciences Dr Imtiaz Rabbani and number of students were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman said that last year due to destruction by heavy floods in our country livestock and agriculture sectors very much effected and poor farming community in the rural areas is facing economic loss. He said it is direly needed to work for the enhancing the profitability of poor farming community through agri-banking and finance. Dr Imtiaz Rabbani presented the vote of thanks.

Dr Sabin Fatima delivered her detailed lecture on effect of flood on crops and livestock, Dr Fasiha Qureshi talked about heavy monsoon rains causes widespread devastation to the agriculture sector and Mr Sarfraz Hussain spoke on banking sector role to cop the recent floods impacts etc.
