5-Days hands-on training on ‘Cheese Making’ concludes at UVAS

Lahore, April 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L and DD) under the project of ‘Capacity Building of dairy farmers and industry stakeholders on milk value chain’ organised concluding ceremony of five days hands-on training on cheese making at City Campus on Friday.

Secretary Livestock Muhammad Masood Anwar presided over the concluding ceremony of training and distributed certificates among participants while UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Principal Para Veterinary Institute Karor Lal Eason Layyah Dr Absar Ahmad Randhawa, Convener UVAS flood relief campaign Prof Dr Muhammad Ijaz, Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 20 participants/professionals from public and private sectors including dairy farmers, stakeholder, veterinary officers and food technologist were present.

Meanwhile, Secretary Livestock Muhammad Masood Anwar also distributed appreciation certificates among faculty members and UVAS Extension Club students who contributed their lead role in successful conducted livestock distribution ceremony at Para Veterinary Institute (PVI) Karor Lal Eason, Layyah (sub-campus of UVAS) under the initiative “Economic revival of flood affected families”. Speaking on the occasion, Masood Anwar said that UVAS is imparting innovative practical knowledge and skills to dairy professionals and contributing its vital role as a hand holder. He said UVAS also playing its lead role like a philanthropist for enhancing competencies of dairy stakeholder/professionals regarding milk value chain, supply chain and shelves life. He advised participants to spread knowledge with other professionals which learnt from training.

Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that it is necessary to create awareness among public/dairy through social media by utilizing modern technology to boost dairy sector. He said UVAS is still serving for the economic revival of flood affected families by providing them pregnant dairy animals. During five days training experts imparted theoretical, practical knowledge, techniques and skills to participant regarding food safety management systems in dairy industry, introduction of cheese and role of pasteurization in cheese production, practical demonstration and production of soft, hard and artisan cheese, nutritional facts and health benefits of cheese, fostering entrepreneurship through business incubation, industry analysis, market strategy, promotion and advertisement of cheese variants etc.

UVAS arranges certificates distribution ceremony for Lahore Drama Festival winners

Lahore, April 05, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged certificates distribution ceremony here in city campus for the winners of Lahore Drama Festival. UVAS drama society ‘Natak Mandli’ students participated in the competition arranged by Punjab Council of the Arts. UVAS students got 3rd position in this competition while also clinched two awards of best direction and best supporting actor as well.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the certificates distribution ceremony and distributed certificates among the office bearers of Natak Mandli while gave away shield among award holders. Dr Muhammad Oneeb, Dr Faiz Rasool and number of students were also present in the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad appreciated the efforts of UVAS students and their performances in the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. He said there are many more opportunities regarding job available for those students who have extra ordinary creative skills. He also urged students to learn about freelancing skills through online business.

UVAS observes “World Stray Animal Day”

Lahore, April 04, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore observed ‘World Stray Animal Day’ here on Tuesday at City Campus. Principal Officer Students Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf led the walk while Chairman Department of Pathology Prof Dr Asim Aslam and a number of faculty members and students participated.

Walk starting from vice-chancellor office culminated in front of UVAS main lawn after taking a round of city campus. The objective of the day was to sensitize people to show humanity, care for stray animals, give them home, food and raise awareness among public about animal welfare standards of living.

UVAS holds meeting to establish e-Rozgaar Center to equipping students with skills for enabling them to initiates their own businesses

Lahore, April 04, 2023 (PPI-OT):Director General (E-Governance) Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Mr Sajid Latif along with his officials paid a visit to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore and called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad at City Campus on Tuesday.

Meanwhile a detailed meeting was held regarding establish of e-Rozgaar Center at UVAS with faculty members and Information Technology experts. Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the meeting while Principal Officer Students Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Director Information Technology Center Mr Rizwan Saleem, faculty, staff members and officials from (PITB) were present.

The objective of the meeting was to equipping public and private sectors universities students of Punjab with skills for enabling them to initiates their own businesses and startups according to Chancellor/Governor Punjab direction under the consortium on entrepreneurship.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sajid Latif said that e-Rozgaar Centers in universities will provide hands-on training/guidance to students for taking up online opportunities, freelancing and startups through development of their potential and entrepreneurial skills for earning sustainable income. He also showed willingness for providing necessary possible assistance and consultancy services to UVAS.

Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that it is the best opportunities for UVAS students to learn about latest trend of business, marketing techniques related to livestock and different online business skills. He said such initiatives will be very beneficial for students not only to establish their own new businesses rather also for their bright future and they will get maximum benefit from it.

5-Days training on ‘Efficient Milking Practices Storage and Handling’ complete at UVAS

Lahore, March 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L and DD) under the project of ‘Capacity Building of dairy farmers and industry stakeholders on milk value chain’ organised concluding ceremonies of five days training on “Efficient Milking Practices Storage and Handling” here at City Campus on Friday.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the concluding ceremony of trainings and distributed certificates among participants while Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 15 participants/professionals from public and private sectors including dairy farmers, veterinary officers, food science technologist and stakeholders were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that food safety and security is the major issue in Pakistan and being professionals it is our responsibilities to curb such issues by utilizing our knowledge and skills. He said UVAS continue imparting practical knowledge to dairy professionals and stakeholders and urged the participants learning techniques regarding dairy processing, value edition and pasteurization of milk to boost dairy sector.

Construction work of wrestling academy start at UVAS

Lahore, March 29, 2023 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nasim Ahmad inaugurated construction work on UVAS Wrestling Academy on Wednesday. The Wrestling Academy is being built with the financial assistance of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad. The construction work will be completed in 15 months and Rs. 125 million will be spent on it.

UVAS Chairman Sports Board Prof Dr Rana Ayub, Director Sports Rana Amjad Iqbal, Project Director Shahnawaz Bukhari and number of faculty members and officials were present in the ceremony. Vice-Chancellor directed the Project Director to complete the construction work in time.
