Islamabad, Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair, President of Jamiat Ulema Pakistan and the National Solidarity Council, has issued a strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, which resulted in the martyrdom of seven soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel and a captain. In his statement, Zubair highlighted the ongoing wave of terrorism not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also in Balochistan, underscoring the urgent need for Pakistan to reevaluate its policies to combat terrorism effectively.
According to Jamiat Ulema Islam, Zubair stressed the importance of political stability, mutual respect for mandates, and a reorganization of the country’s policies as critical measures for countering terrorism. He reminisced about the successful operations carried out by Pakistani forces, such as Zarb Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad, which significantly impacted the fight against terrorism. Despite these achievements, he noted that the resurgence of terrorist activities, particularly following the Taliban’s ascent to power in Afghanistan, poses a renewed threat to Pakistan’s security.
Zubair called for enhanced performance and organization of security agencies, improved border monitoring, and strengthened intelligence networks. He emphasized the impossibility of establishing regional peace without diplomatic relations with Afghanistan, lamenting the failures of both past and current governments to establish effective diplomatic ties with the Afghan government. He also highlighted agreements with the Afghan Taliban to prevent the use of Afghan territory for activities against Pakistan.
The statement concluded with a call to prioritize justice, uphold the rule of law, and address security concerns diligently to safeguard the nation against external threats. Zubair’s remarks underscore the complex challenges facing Pakistan in its ongoing battle against terrorism and the imperative for strategic policy shifts and international cooperation.
