Rawalpindi, The martyrdom day of Hazrat Imam Muhammad Taqi al-Jawad (peace be upon him) is being observed today in Rawalpindi with solemnity and respect. The day, under the guidance of Quaid-e-Millat Jafaria Aghasid Hamid Ali Shah Mousavi, features scholarly discussions on the Imam’s life and his contributions to Islam, along with mourning processions throughout the city.
According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, the event includes scholars and preachers elaborating on the virtues and scholarly achievements of Imam Taqi at various Imam Bargahs and funeral homes. TNFJ convener Dr. Ali Mehdi Taqvi, in his address at the central mourning assembly, highlighted the Imam’s profound wisdom and devotion, noting his significant religious influence despite his short life of only 25 years.
Dr. Taqvi emphasized Imam Taqi’s role in promoting monotheism and enriching Islamic teachings under challenging circumstances, often contending with oppressive rulers through his knowledge and wisdom. He also stressed the importance of recognizing such seminal figures in Islam more broadly within society, suggesting that their remembrance should be integrated into national celebrations and covered more extensively in the media.
The observance also includes a resolution to uphold the values of the Shiite community, advocating for the protection of religious rights and principles central to Shiism, such as the recognition of Imam Ali’s leadership and the respect for religious authorities. The commitment to follow the directives of TNFJ leader Allama Aghasid Hussain and support all actions that promote the security of the religion and the nation was reaffirmed.
