Punjab University to Host Seminar Bridging Shakespeare and Urdu Literature

LAHORE, The Urdu Development and Translation Centre (UDTC) at Punjab University is set to hold a seminar exploring the connections between the works of Shakespeare and Urdu literature. Scheduled for Tuesday, November 7 at 11 am, the seminar aims to provide a platform for scholarly dialogue and cultural exchange.

According to the University of the Punjab, Prof Dr. Shahab Yar Khan from Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with other experts, will be expressing their views on the interplay between the English playwright’s oeuvre and the rich traditions of Urdu literary arts. The event promises to offer fresh perspectives on the influence of Shakespeare’s narratives on Urdu literature and vice versa.

The seminar is part of the university’s broader efforts to foster academic discussions that transcend linguistic and cultural boundaries, highlighting the universality of literary themes and the impact of cross-cultural fertilization on literary development.
