Punjab University Institute of Zoology Hosts Night Zoo Safari to Celebrate World Migratory Day

Lahore, The Punjab University Institute of Zoology celebrated World Migratory Day with a unique “Night Zoo Safari Camping” event at Lahore Zoo Safari. This special event aimed to raise awareness about migratory birds and wildlife conservation, providing an educational yet thrilling experience for students and wildlife enthusiasts.

According to University of the Punjab, the event featured a series of activities designed to deepen participants’ understanding of wildlife. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, alongside DG Wildlife Mudassar Riaz Malik and other faculty members, led the event. Dr. Ali highlighted the importance of the event in fostering a connection between participants and the natural world, emphasizing the significance of migratory birds and the necessity of habitat preservation.

The night included various activities such as ungulate observation, wildlife storytelling, and screenings of wildlife documentaries edited by Babar Bukhari and made by Badar Munir. These films offered insights into the lives of lions and migratory birds, among other species, underlining the challenges these animals face and the efforts needed to protect them.

One of the main attractions of the event was the lion safari, where participants ventured into the nocturnal environment under guided tours to observe lions in their natural settings. This close encounter aimed to highlight the majestic nature of lions and the ecological importance of their conservation.

The event also served as a platform for recognizing the efforts of interns who had completed their training programs at the zoo, with certificates being awarded as a token of appreciation for their contributions to wildlife conservation and education.

Dr. Ali, expressing gratitude towards the contributors including Badar Munir, Muddassir Riaz Malik, Deputy Director Safari Zoo Tanveer Janjua, Dr. Rizwan, and the entire wildlife staff, emphasized the collective efforts in making the Night Zoo Safari a success and an impactful educational experience.
