Lahore, The Department of Physics at the University of the Punjab recently hosted an international seminar on the “SESAME SYNCHROTRON,” featuring Dr. Andrea Lausi, the Scientific Director of SESAME, Jordan. The event, held on January 30, 2024, brought together a wide audience from various educational institutions to delve into the applications and research opportunities offered by the SESAME facility.
According to University of the Punjab, SESAME (Synchrotron-Light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East) is an independent laboratory in Allan, Jordan, established under the auspices of UNESCO in 2002. Dr. Lausi, during his talk, emphasized the capabilities of the SESAME SYNCHROTRON, discussing its diverse applications in fields such as biology, physics, chemistry, archaeology, and medical sciences. He also outlined the various characterization techniques available at the facility and the potential for research collaborations.
The seminar saw participation from Punjab University, Government College University Lahore, Forman Christian College Lahore, LUMS University, and the University of Education. The event was not only an informative session about the advanced science facilitated by SESAME but also a platform for discussing future research possibilities and collaborations in the region.
