Punjab University Dominates at Inaugural CM Punjab Pink Games in Lahore

Lahore, The first edition of the Chief Minister Punjab Pink Games concluded on Sunday with Punjab University securing victories in four out of seven sports, making it the standout institution at the event. The competitions, which spanned four days, saw intense participation from various universities across the region, with Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) and Superior University also clinching titles.

According to Sports Board Punjab, the event attracted significant attention with Punjab University girls winning titles in archery, cricket, badminton, and table tennis. LCWU claimed victories in athletics and basketball, while Superior University won the hockey championship. Punjab’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, and Director General Sports Punjab, Pervez Iqbal, extended their congratulations to all the winners and commended the high level of discipline and sportsmanship displayed by the runners-up and other participating teams.

Highlights from the games included a nail-biting hockey final where Superior University edged out Government College Women University (GCWU) 4-3 on penalties after a draw in regulation time. In cricket, Punjab University outshone LCWU with a 65-run victory, and in table tennis, they overcame Kinnaird College 3-1.

The basketball finals saw LCWU defeating University of Sargodha by a staggering 98-5, with standout performances from players Hamda and Alishba. The badminton finals also showcased the prowess of Punjab University, which won the gold medal with 100 points, decisively beating the University of Lahore.

The CM Punjab Pink Games have set a new standard for women’s sports within the region, reflecting the growing enthusiasm and competitive spirit among collegiate athletes. The successful conclusion of this inaugural event promises greater visibility and support for women’s sports in Punjab and beyond.
