LAHORE, The Punjab University Academic Council, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, convened a meeting at Al-Razi Hall, attended by heads of departments and faculty members. The council adopted various policies including those for PhD, postgraduate, undergraduate studies, and anti-plagiarism in line with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan’s guidelines. Additionally, the meeting addressed the continuation of the associate degree program in affiliated colleges.
According to University of the Punjab, the meeting was significant for the university’s academic development. The council decided to continue the associate degree program in affiliated colleges, catering to both annual and semester systems, following requests from the colleges. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood took the opportunity to congratulate the newly elected members of the Academic Council. These include Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry and Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmed as members of the Finance Committee, Prof. Dr. Mehboob Hussain, Prof. Dr. Sohail Chand, and Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafiq as members of the Advanced Research Board, Prof. Dr. Muqit Javed Bhatti as a member of the Sheikh Zayed Islamic Center, and Prof. Dr. Kamran Abid as a member of the Board of Governors for the Center for Solid State Physics. He expressed optimism about their contributions to the university’s progress.
The Academic Council also approved new programs based on recommendations from the Board of Studies and Faculty Boards of various departments, marking a step forward in the university’s academic offerings and adherence to national educational standards.
