Islamabad, In a recent meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari tasked the newly-appointed Federal Insurance Ombudsman (FIO), Mr. Mumtaz Ali Shah, with improving access to swift and free justice for citizens aggrieved by insurance companies.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari emphasized the necessity for the FIO to expand its reach and expedite the resolution of complaints to ensure comprehensive monetary relief for a larger segment of the population. This directive came shortly after Mr. Mumtaz Ali Shah was sworn in as the Federal Insurance Ombudsman in a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday.
During their discussion, President Zardari highlighted the importance of raising public awareness about the FIO’s role in settling insurance claims and assisting policyholders. He also recommended the adoption of modern technologies and information and communication tools to enhance the efficiency of the complaint disposal process.
Mr. Mumtaz Ali Shah, a retired Pakistan Administrative Service officer who previously served as the Sindh Chief Secretary until March 2022, brings extensive administrative experience to his new role as the FIO. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the oversight of the insurance sector and protect consumer rights.
