Islamabad, In a recent interview with Chinese media, President Asif Ali Zardari, marking the 73rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the one-China principle and discussed the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari, who was recently re-elected, expressed his views on various topics, including Pakistan’s historical relationship with China, initiated by his father-in-law, former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He emphasized Pakistan’s opposition to Taiwan independence, stating unequivocally that “Taiwan is part of China.”
The president also highlighted significant progress at Gwadar Port under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and advocated for increased Chinese language instruction in Pakistani schools to strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
