Karachi, In response to the announced sit-in threats at Bilawal House by several parties, including the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Asif Khan, Deputy Secretary of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Karachi Division and Convener District East, has issued a stern warning. He emphasized that PPP members are prepared to counter these actions with sit-ins of their own if provoked. Khan’s remarks highlight the escalating political tensions in Karachi and underscore the PPP’s readiness to defend its mandate and leadership against opposition protests.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Asif Khan articulated a strong stance against the opposition’s tactics, accusing them of engaging in point-scoring politics at the expense of the PPP’s established governance in Sindh since 2008. He pointed out that attempts to undermine the PPP’s achievements in Karachi would be futile if the party’s leadership decided to mobilize its supporters. Khan also refuted allegations of violence and mismanagement in Karachi, crediting the PPP with significant electoral victories in both local and general elections across Sindh.
Khan further criticized the opposition for resorting to protest politics under the guise of election rigging, arguing that such actions only serve to penalize the people of Karachi rather than address their needs. He highlighted the PPP’s commitment to legal recourse in contesting lost seats and its dedication to serving all communities under the leadership of Murad Ali Shah and Bilawal Bhutto’s 10-point agenda aimed at reducing inflation, unemployment, and poverty.
The Deputy Secretary’s comments reflect a broader call for political maturity and constructive engagement in Karachi’s development rather than continuing cycles of protests and counter-protests. He urged rejected political elements to cease exploiting the PPP’s name for their agenda, advocating for a focus on development and service to the people of Karachi.
