Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Set for England Tour, Eyes World Cup 2025 Qualification

Karachi, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a 17-player squad for the Pakistan women’s cricket team’s upcoming tour of England. Led by captain Nida Dar, the team will compete in three T20 Internationals and three One Day Internationals this month, with the ODIs counting towards the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, this tour marks Pakistan women’s first visit to England since 2016. The tour includes matches that are critical for Pakistan’s chances at qualifying directly for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Pakistan currently holds the fifth position in the ICC Women’s Championship standings with 16 points. The top five teams from the championship, along with the host nation India, will secure direct entries to the World Cup.

The squad will also engage in two warm-up matches against the ECB Development XI on May 9 and 21, ahead of the main series which will see the T20Is scheduled from May 11 to 19 and the ODIs from May 23 to 29.

The team’s composition includes seasoned players like Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, and Diana Baig, alongside emerging talents such as Gull Feroza and Umm-e-Hani. Muneeba Ali and Najiha Alvi will serve as wicketkeepers for the tour.

The player support personnel accompanying the team include Nahida Khan as manager, Mauhtashim Rasheed as interim head coach, and former cricketers Saleem Jaffar and Taufeeq Umar as bowling and batting coaches, respectively. The team will depart for England on Sunday, May 5.
