Pakistan U19 Team Gears Up for Super Six Stage in Harare

Harare: Pakistan U19 cricket team has commenced preparations for the Super Six stage of the ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup in Harare. The team, guided by head coach Shahid Anwar, engaged in scenario-based match practices at the Takashinga Cricket Club on Sunday, aiming to fine-tune their strategies for the upcoming matches.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the team will continue their training regimen at the same venue on Monday before their Super Six campaign begins on Tuesday. Pakistan is set to face New Zealand in their opening fixture at the Harare Sports Club, followed by a crucial match against India at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

Pakistan advanced to the Super Six after finishing second in Group 'C', recording victories over Scotland and Zimbabwe, but falling to England. England, having won all their group matches, topped the group, with Zimbabwe also progressing.

Mansoor Amjad, the fielding coach and a member of Pakistan's 2004 U19 winning team, highlighted the team's improved fielding standards, emphasizing the significance of crucial catches and runs saved. He noted the players' commitment to developing a strong fielding culture and their ability to adapt and improve.

The 15-member squad, led by captain Farhan Yousaf, includes notable players like vice-captain Usman Khan and Ahmed Hussain, among others. The team is supported by a comprehensive staff, including Sarfaraz Ahmed as manager and mentor.

Pakistan's fixtures in the Super Six include a match against New Zealand on 27 January and against India on 1 February, with potential semi-final and final matches scheduled for early February in Harare and Bulawayo.
