Bahawalpur, July 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): The administration of Islamia University Bahawalpur on the instructions of Vice Chancellor Islamia University Bahawalpur Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob has constituted a high-powered investigation committee following the arrest of two officers of the university on charges of drug use and sale. The head of this committee is Professor Dr. Rao Saeed Ahmed, Chairman Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry while the members include Professor Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Professor Dr. Saeed Ahmed Buzdar, Director Institute of Physics, Muhammad Bilal Irshad, Additional Registrar Litigation.

The committee will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the allegations against the two officers and review all available digital, physical and other testimonial materials. The committee members will conduct a transparent and impartial review of all matters and submit a detailed report and recommend disciplinary action if the allegations are proved. According to the committee notification, Treasurer Prof.Dr Abu Bakr and Chief Security Officer Major Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah have been immediately suspended till the investigation is completed. Meanwhile, the Higher Education Department South Punjab has also formed a joint research committee by contacting the university administration. Headed by Dr. Farid Sharif, Director of Public Instruction Colleges South Punjab, other members include Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed Buzdar, Director Institute of Physics, Muhammad Bilal Irshad, Additional Registrar Litigation.

This committee will submit recommendations to the Secretary Higher Education South Punjab within three days. Other members include Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Saeed Ahmed Buzdar, Director Institute of Physics, Muhammad Bilal Irshad, Additional Registrar Litigation. This committee will submit recommendations to the Secretary Higher Education South Punjab within three days.
