Lahore, The Rising Punjab Games concluded with a flourish at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall, where Lahore’s table tennis players, Kalsoom Khan and Taimur Khan, emerged victorious in the Women’s and Men’s Singles championships, respectively.
According to Sports Board Punjab, the finals of the Rising Punjab Games Table Tennis Championship witnessed Kalsoom Khan and Taimur Khan overcoming their challengers in intense matches. Dr. Asif Tufail, Director General of Sports Punjab, extended his congratulations to the winners for their achievements in the 2024 championship. The Rising Punjab Games, part of Sports Board Punjab’s Annual Sports Calendar Programme, awarded a total cash prize of Rs 12 lakh to the victors and runners-up in both singles and team events.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Ahmer Malik, President of Pakistan Table Tennis Federation, along with other dignitaries, including Yasmeen Akhtar, Director of Sports, and Irfanullah Khan, President of Punjab Table Tennis Association. They distributed trophies and medals to the successful participants.
President PTTF Ahmer Malik, in his media address, praised Dr. Asif Tufail for the successful organization of the Rising Punjab Games and lauded the initiative of providing scholarships to talented athletes. He also acknowledged the efforts in nurturing young talent through such platforms.
In the Women’s Singles final, Kalsoom Khan secured her win against Perniya Zaman Khan in a nail-biting match, finishing with a scoreline of 4-3. Despite a strong comeback by Perniya, Kalsoom persevered to claim the title. Meanwhile, Taimur Khan showcased a commanding performance in the Men’s Singles final against Faizan Zahoor of Faisalabad, winning 4-1 and demonstrating a solid play from the outset.
