Karachi, Amidst escalating electricity prices and frequent load shedding, leaders from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan (JUI) have vehemently opposed the latest increases in electricity tariffs, deeming them excessively burdensome for the already struggling populace.
According to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan, Hafiz Ahmad Ali, the Central Deputy Secretary General of JUI, and Rana Mohammad Sabar, President of the Youth Wing JUI Sindh, criticized the government’s decision to raise electricity rates further as oppressive and intolerable. Speaking to supporters upon his return from Islamabad, Ali highlighted the severity of the inflation crisis and its compounded effect by unaffordable electricity prices. He warned that JUI is preparing to launch protests against these measures, which he predicts will draw significant public support, particularly in Karachi.
Sabar underscored the hardship faced by consumers who are not only grappling with high rates but are also subjected to continuous load shedding amid severe heat conditions. He called on the government to reduce electricity tariffs and improve service delivery to alleviate the public’s suffering.
