IIUI President Commends Students at Calligraphy Exhibition on Female Campus

Islamabad, the closing ceremony of the Arabic Calligraphy Course at the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) female campus showcased an impressive array of 140 calligraphy pieces. IIUI President Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, who graced the event, praised the talent displayed by students in Kufic and Ruq’a Calligraphy, a course taught by Dr. Moaid Fadhil, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Arabic.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the President lauded the skills and creativity of the students and discussed the connection between calligraphy and Sirah, an Islamic historical narrative. He noted that the university recently hosted a conference on Sirah, accompanied by an exhibition of rare manuscripts and calligraphy. Dr. Alotaibi expressed hope for the continuation of such enriching activities across the university’s campuses. The ceremony also included the awarding of cash prizes and certificates to the winners and participants of the course, with special recognition given to Dr. Moaid Fadhil and course organizer Dr. Robina Naz for their efforts.

The event, attended by in-charge of the female campus Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, students’ adviser Dr. Sadia Saleem, Dean of the faculty of languages at NUML Dr. Asghar Ali Jami, and other dignitaries, highlighted the importance of calligraphy in Islamic culture. Dean of the Arabic Faculty, Dr. Fazlullah, welcomed the guests and spoke about the historical significance of calligraphy. In-charge Faculty of Arabic, Dr. Samia Nazish, expressed gratitude to the participants and organizers.

Dr. Asghar Ali Jami from NUML praised the faculty’s efforts in organizing the course, emphasizing the esteemed place of calligraphy in Islamic art. Dr. Abdul Mujeeb, Head of the Literature Department, Arabic Faculty, also spoke on the subject, appreciating the initiative.

Dr. Moaid Fadhil, during his address, gave an overview of Arabic Calligraphy and its types, commending the dedication of the students. The event concluded with students sharing their experiences and the positive impact of the course.
