Dubai, The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the team of 26 match officials for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which includes 20 umpires and six match referees. The event, set to commence on June 1st in the West Indies and the USA, will feature the largest number of teams yet, with 20 teams competing in 55 matches across 28 days at nine different venues.
According to International Cricket Council, the list of officials is headlined by Richard Illingworth, who won the David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year last year. Other notable umpires include Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney, and Paul Reiffel, all of whom officiated in the final match of the previous T20 World Cup. The referees’ panel will be led by Ranjan Madugalle and includes Jeff Crowe, the most experienced T20I match referee.
Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager Cricket, expressed confidence in the selected officials, highlighting their experience and consistent performance. He noted that the unprecedented scale of this tournament underlines its significance in cricket history.
