LAHORE: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has underscored the pressing necessity of promoting dialogue as a means to achieve global peace. Speaking at the "Peace for Humanity" ceremony organized by the Department of Political Science, he highlighted the importance of diplomatic engagement in resolving international conflicts and fostering understanding.
According to University of the Punjab, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali addressed the audience, which included senior analyst Salman Abid, Chairman of the Department of Political Science Prof Dr Rana Ijaz Ahmad, faculty members, and students. He criticized the recent events between the United States and Iran, citing attacks on Lebanese water reservoirs and Tehran's hospitals and schools as actions devoid of ethical considerations. He further pointed out the environmental impact of explosives, linking them to global warming and water-related issues.
Prof Dr Muhammad Ali also discussed the geopolitical implications of the Strait of Hormuz's closure and Israel's longstanding actions against Palestine. He encouraged political science students to critically analyze how Israel achieves its objectives. He praised Pakistan's role in fostering ceasefire agreements, noting that successful diplomacy could enhance the nation's global stature. He called for the effective utilization of Pakistan's human and natural resources to bolster its economy.
Senior analyst Salman Abid added that global priorities are skewed towards defense systems rather than human resource development, even in democratic nations. He remarked on the divisive influence of the United States and Israel in Middle Eastern politics. Prof Dr Rana Ijaz Ahmad emphasized Pakistan's proactive efforts in promoting peace and affirmed the Department of Political Science's commitment to raising awareness on national and international affairs.
