Karachi, Mufti Muhammad Adnan Madani, General Secretary of the Pakistan Peace Council, has decried the deteriorating conditions in Karachi, attributing the city’s woes to “interest politics.” He emphasized the need for immediate government action to address the city’s infrastructure and civic issues during a meeting with social leader Aslam Khan Farooqui.
According to PAKISTAN AMN COUNCIL , the ongoing neglect and mismanagement have left Karachi in a state of disrepair, with specific mention of the road blockages near Habib Bank Site area in District Kemari. He highlighted the prevalent issues of dirt accumulation, inadequate water supply, poor drainage, and damaged roads. Madani, alongside Farooqui, strongly condemned these conditions and called on Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Saleem Rajput and the Sindh government to take swift action.
They demanded the removal of all road blockages across the city, particularly those near the Habib Bank Site area, using heavy concrete blocks. This step, they argued, is essential to alleviate the mental anguish of the public. Madani and Farooqui stressed that the people of Karachi, possessing significant collective power, should not be underestimated or mistreated. They emphasized that the basic rights of citizens are fully protected under the country’s constitution and must be upheld.
These statements highlight the growing dissatisfaction among Karachi’s citizens and activists with the current state of the city’s infrastructure and governance. The call for action reflects a pressing need for governmental intervention to restore and improve the living conditions in Pakistan’s largest city.
