GCU Hosts Seminar on Finding Peace and Happiness Amidst Challenges

Lahore, Government College University (GCU) Lahore organized a seminar titled “Peace and Happiness in Turbulent Times” this Thursday, which brought together esteemed academics and students to discuss the integral role of education in fostering national success and personal well-being. The event, held in collaboration with the GCU Alumni Network and various university societies, featured insights from Prof. Dr. Inam-ur-Rahman, a noted nuclear scientist, and Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, GCU’s first woman Vice Chancellor.

According to Government College University, the seminar addressed various themes, including the importance of research in science and technology, the value of a compassionate life approach, and the pursuit of mental peace over material gains. Prof. Dr. Inam-ur-Rahman, decorated with prestigious awards like Hilal-i-Imtiaz and Sitara-i-Imtiaz, shared his personal experiences and the profound lessons learned during his educational journey at GCU under the mentorship of Rafi Muhammad Chaudhry. He emphasized that true wealth comes from serving others and maintaining moral integrity, rather than from financial success alone.

The event also highlighted the contributions of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission to national progress, with Dr. Inam reminding students of the resilience and potential inherent in their community. Prof. Dr. Shazia Bashir, in her address, stressed the importance of practical experiences over theoretical knowledge, encouraging students to seek inspiration from successful figures in science and technology.
