FESCO Initiates Smart Billing, Reduces Electricity Bill Size in Faisalabad

Faisalabad: Pakistan: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has taken a significant step towards modernizing its billing system by reducing the size of its electricity bills, marking the beginning of a transition to smart billing. This initiative is expected to result in substantial annual savings for the company.

According to Faisalabad Electric Supply Company, the decision to reduce the size of the electricity bill was made following the instructions of Chairman FESCO BOD, Malik Tehseen Awan, and the approval of the Board of Directors. Under the guidance of Director General IT, Imadullah, the FESCO Computer Center has commenced the distribution of smaller-sized bills to consumers across all districts in the region.

This eco-friendly measure is aimed at reducing the company’s paper usage and is projected to save millions of rupees annually. FESCO currently serves approximately 52 lakh consumers, with an annual expenditure of 21 crore 40 lakh rupees on paper for bill printing. By reducing the bill size, FESCO anticipates saving about 10 crore 70 lakh rupees each year.

In line with modern trends, FESCO is also planning to phase out paper billing entirely and shift to an exclusively online billing system. An awareness campaign will be conducted to educate consumers about the ease of online bill payments. This transition is part of a broader eco-friendly plan to enable customers to pay their bills conveniently from home.

The initiative by FESCO not only represents a significant cost-saving measure but also aligns with environmental sustainability efforts by reducing paper waste.
