Engr. Azeem shares details on the efficacy of solar energy based PV Systems

Lahore, October 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Engineering expert at UOL shares guidelines on the use of renewable solar energy into meeting domestic, agricultural, and industrial needs. Since solar energy reduces carbon footprint and lowers the cost of energy at the same time, it can be effectively utilized as an electricity source in industries, homes, and in agriculture farms.

Engr. Omar Azeem (Lecturer, Department of Electrical Engineering, UOL) shared his expert guidelines during a seminar organized at UOL, which was aimed at providing insights into the solar energy-based PV system technologies and their different classes that can serve as a guideline in choosing the system that can better serve the domestic, agricultural and industrial needs.

Engr. Azeem elucidated the fundamentals of solar energy and photovoltaic, its applications, system sizing, designing, configuration, and installation tips. This seminar helped listeners to be on the front edge of the ever-growing need for power generation and they learned how solar energy could have a positive impact at home, agricultural, or at the industrial level.

During the seminar, the entire process of formation of PV cells along with its characteristics, construction of PV panels with the latest advancements, efficiency, and their types of connections were discussed. Finally, different types of PV system topologies i.e., off grid, hybrid and on-grid systems were taken into account with a special focus on the on-grid systems as they are mostly preferred in society nowadays due to their ability to bidirectional energy transfer thus reducing energy bills. The seminar was organized by the Department of Electrical Engineering, in joint efforts with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the University of Lahore (UOL) Student Branch (SB).
