Teacher Training Academy is equipping faculty with the latest pedagogical skills

Lahore, October 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Higher education pedagogies are rapidly evolving, making it more crucial than ever to keep a university’s faculty abreast of all of the latest technological trends related to teaching. The Teacher Training Academy (TTA) at the University of Lahore (UOL) is fully aware of the need to train faculty. Therefore, it has been organizing an array of training sessions to equip faculty for providing top-tier services.

The trainings were facilitated by different female experts including Dr. Rabia Akhtar (Director, CSSPR and SISS), Ms. Aqdas Aslam (Consultant Trainer, Ibadat Educational Trust, Facilitator), and Dr. Afia Khalid (Assistant Professor, Lahore Business School). One of the training sessions was based on “Teaching with Technology” which introduced faculty to the latest technological tools used during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were also referred to some useful websites for in depth consultation.

Another training session was on “Effective Practices in Teacher Education Support Workshop for Potential Trainers” which was designed to stimulate innovation in teaching and learning approaches. It also helped faculty members to unlearn and relearn appropriate pedagogical skills in extremely volatile classrooms. Faculty were trained on the aspects of the proposal and elements of how to write a proposal, training plan, evaluation, and follow-up plan.

The training on curriculum design was organized in a series of six training sessions in order to provide UOL faculty with the necessary skills to design a wholesome course catering to all the academic needs of the students. During the session, Dr. Khalid discussed the fundamentals of course design, its models being used around the world, and activities to put faculty members’ knowledge into practice. Additionally, Dr. Khalid stressed the KSBs (knowledge, skills, and behaviour) and advised the attendees to focus on them while designing the outline of their assigned courses.
