Lahore, In a significant move for Pakistan cricket, Election Commissioner Mr Shah Khawar has called a special meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to elect its Chairman. The meeting is scheduled for 2 pm on Tuesday, 6 February 2024, at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the purpose of this special meeting is to fulfill a key governance procedure as outlined in the constitution of the PCB. The constitution, established in 2014, necessitates the physical presence of all BoG members at the meeting for the election process. The Board of Governors, comprising various regional and institutional representatives, plays a crucial role in the decision-making process for the PCB.
The BoG includes Mr Mustafa Ramday and Mr Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, both nominees of the PCB Patron, along with presidents of regional cricket associations: Mr Sajjad Ali Khokhar (AJK), Mr Zafarullah Jadgal (Dera Murad Jamali), Mr Tanveer Ahmed (Larkana), and Mr Tariq Sarwar (Bahawalpur). Representing various institutions are Mr Muhammad Ismail Qureshi from Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Dr Anwaar Ahmad Khan from Ghani Glass Limited, Mr Javed Iqbal from State Bank of Pakistan, and Mr Osama Azhar from Pakistan Television. Additionally, a non-voting member, the Secretary to the Government of Pakistan’s Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination or their nominee, is part of the BoG.
