Dow University Re-conducts MDCAT 2023-24 for 41,000 Students in Sindh

Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi, in compliance with the directives from the Government of Sindh and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), is re-conducting the Medical and Dental College Aptitude Test (MDCAT) for the 2023-24 session today, 19th November 2023. Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dow University and Focal Person for MDCAT 2023, Prof. Nazli Hossain, provided this update during an emergency press briefing at Expo Center Karachi on Saturday afternoon. Also present were Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq, Controller Examination Dr. Fuad Sheikh, SP Gulshan Dr. Ayaz, and other officers.

According to DUHS, Prof. Hossain detailed that extensive preparations have been made to facilitate the smooth conduct of MDCAT across various locations in the province of Sindh. The test is being simultaneously administered at the Expo Centre Karachi, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) in Jamshoro, Bilawal Sports Complex in Nawabshah (Shaheed Benazirabad), and the Police Training School in Larkana. The breakdown of participants includes approximately 15,000 students from Karachi, 13,000 from Jamshoro, 4,000 from Nawabshah, and 9,000 from Larkana.

The Expo Centre Karachi, serving as one of the primary venues, has established separate entry points for male and female candidates. Stringent security measures are in place to ensure the safety of all attendees. Law enforcement agencies, Rangers, and Police, along with ambulances and medical aid volunteers, are stationed at the venues to handle any emergency situations. The university has issued detailed instructions related to MDCAT to all the students prior to the examination.

It is noteworthy that a total of 41,000 male and female students are participating in the MDCAT across the province. They are competing for a total of 3,600 MBBS and 1,190 BDS seats available in both public and private medical and dental institutions in Sindh.
