Islamabad, August 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): Dialogue on Climate Water Food Nexus Need for Integrated Approaches

The event titled “Dialogue on Climate Water Food Nexus Need for Integrated Approaches” was organized by NDRMF on 24 July 2023 at Serena, Islamabad. Welcome Remarks by Head Climate Change NDRMF, Fawad Hayat.

Dialogue is an opportunity to focus on how we can work together to address climate change and its impacts on Water and Food sector. The experts gathered to discuss how climate change is affecting people’s access to water for sufficient, safe and nutritious food. Indeed, water scarcity, floods and long-term drought are just some of the factors leaving food production and distribution systems vulnerable to collapse. Need for Cross- Sectoral Policy and Institutional Linkages was given by Mr. Bilal Anwar, CEO NDRMF. He addressed that we need to promote public private partnerships in order to address climate change related disasters.

Talk on “Climate Water Food- Interlocking Challenges for Pakistan” was delivered by Dr Adil Najam. He said that Climate change is no future issue and it’s not happening somewhere else – it’s happening now and in every corner of the world -Age of Adaptation. it’s here it’s now

Water is to Adaptation what carbon is to Mitigation – This applies to Pakistan like nowhere else!!

President WWF International and Dean Emeritus and Professor of International Relations and Earth and Environment at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston. Dr. Toqeer Ahmed, Associate Professor participated in the said event and represented CCRD, CUI.
