Chitral, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, addressing a workers’ convention in Chitral, emphasized the party’s commitment to winning the upcoming general elections and addressed various issues pertaining to the region. He expressed his gratitude to the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chitral organizations for organizing the successful event.
According to Pakistan People’s Party, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted Chitral’s historical significance for the PPP, referencing it as the place where Begum Nusrat Bhutto was elected and emphasizing his personal connection to the region. He praised the women of Chitral for carrying forward the mission of Begum Nusrat Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
Chairman Bilawal discussed the PPP’s longstanding efforts to combat poverty, unemployment, and inflation in the region, recalling the employment opportunities provided to the youth of Chitral during the eras of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He spoke about the need for a new approach to politics to address the country’s challenges and his vision for Pakistan’s potential.
The Chairman also outlined the PPP’s plans for Chitral, including restoring the wheat subsidy, making former FATA and PATA tax-free zones, and establishing roads to connect Chitral with China, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. He emphasized the PPP’s focus on utilizing the region’s riverine power for energy production and special quotas in the Benazir Income Support Programme for regions like Chitral.
Chairman Bilawal stressed the importance of implementing the 18th Amendment properly, committing to budget reforms that incorporate the ‘Kissan’ and ‘Mazdoor’ card to assist the underprivileged. He concluded by expressing his desire to serve the people of Chitral and his ambition for a PPP-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to realize the party’s vision for the region.
