Karachi, In a significant development for athletes seeking to further their education, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and the World Academy of Sport have launched scholarship opportunities for the World Academy of Sport’s Postgraduate Certificate in International Sports Management. The course, set to commence in February 2024, is developed in conjunction with the University of London.
According to Pakistan Olympic Association, the Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) programme, accredited globally, combines academic rigor with industry focus. This fully online, self-paced certificate allows students to complete the course within one to five years. Successful completion of the 60-credit program provides a qualification that is recognized globally and can be applied towards a Master’s degree.
The curriculum includes four modules, with two core subjects – Strategy, Leadership and Governance in Sport, and Financial Management in Sport – and two elective subjects chosen from Sports Marketing, Sponsorship and Media, Sports Event Management, Sports Entrepreneurship, and Sport Development, Facilities, and Participation.
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must either hold an undergraduate degree or have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience, along with professional references. Additionally, an English language proficiency level equivalent to IELTS 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in the written test, is required, along with access to a computer and internet.
The scholarships offered include two full scholarships and nine 25% scholarships, each of the latter valued at £1,022. Recipients of the 25% scholarship will need to fund the remaining £3,066.
