Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar Meets with PCB Chairman to Discuss Cricket Development

Lahore, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar held a meeting with Mr. Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, discussing various initiatives and future plans for cricket in Pakistan.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Prime Minister Kakar expressed appreciation for the measures undertaken by the PCB management committee and extended his support for their ongoing efforts. He emphasized the need for expanding the PCB’s outreach to more remote regions of the country, underlining the importance of making cricket accessible to a broader audience.

The Prime Minister also addressed the organization of the ninth edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL). He highlighted the necessity of adjusting the HBL PSL matches schedule to avoid clashes with election day, ensuring that the cricket tournament does not interfere with the voting process.

Further emphasizing the need for international collaboration, PM Kakar praised the PCB for its current relations with other cricket boards, such as Cricket Australia (CA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). He stressed the importance of enhancing these relationships for the development of cricket in Pakistan.

Looking ahead to the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan is set to host, PM Kakar urged the PCB to work closely with stakeholders and security agencies to ensure the event’s successful hosting. He reiterated the government’s support for the PCB’s initiatives aimed at promoting cricket at all levels within the country, signifying the government’s commitment to the sport’s growth and development.
