Rawalpindi, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, delivered a passionate speech in Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, emphasizing the need for unity and decisive action to address the country’s economic, societal, and security challenges.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Chairman Bilawal, speaking in the city that witnessed the martyrdom of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, voiced his concerns about the current state of the nation. He identified an economic crisis, societal issues, and a resurgence of terrorism as the primary challenges facing Pakistan. He affirmed that the PPP is uniquely positioned to address these crises, drawing on its historical philosophy and values. Bilawal cited the PPP’s 2024 manifesto and a 10-point economic charter, crafted to tackle these vital problems.
The Chairman stressed the importance of overcoming the politics of hatred and division, proposing the establishment of a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ to unify the country for progress and prosperity. He underscored the urgency of confronting terrorism, criticizing the tendency to make distinctions between different groups and delaying decisive action. Bilawal emphasized adherence to the Constitution established by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the need for a robust response to any threats to national security.
With elections scheduled for February 8, Bilawal criticized a rival political party for deviating from its commitment to the Charter of Democracy and for engaging in divisive politics. He urged citizens to make a thoughtful decision, suggesting that a vote for the PPP symbolized a rejection of these divisive tactics. He also addressed workers of the PML-N and PTI, challenging the former’s commitment to the sanctity of the vote and highlighting the PPP’s enduring struggle for democracy. He pointed out the absence of Imran Khan in the upcoming elections and alleged internal discord within the PTI.
Bilawal called on the PPP supporters, the Jiyalas, to work diligently until the elections, asserting the party’s capability to address the multitude of issues faced by the country. He appealed for trust in the PPP in the upcoming elections, urging people to choose the party’s symbol, the arrow, representing the legacy of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
