Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Nominated as PPP’s Prime Minister Candidate


Lahore, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), announced his nomination as the party’s candidate for Prime Minister during a press conference following the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting in Lahore. The nomination marks a significant move ahead of the country’s upcoming elections, reflecting the party’s strategy and vision for Pakistan’s future.



According to Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed his gratitude to the CEC and President Zardari for endorsing his nomination. He outlined the PPP’s campaign plans across all provinces and emphasized the party’s commitment to addressing the myriad crises facing Pakistan, including political, democratic, and security challenges.



The PPP chairman detailed the party’s manifesto, which aims to revolutionize the country’s political system and address the issues of hate and division. The manifesto includes ten key points focusing on various socioeconomic aspects, such as doubling income, providing free electricity to the underprivileged, establishing green energy parks, and ensuring free quality education and healthcare.



Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also highlighted plans to build housing for the less fortunate and expand the Benazir Income Support Programme. He proposed the introduction of ‘Kissan Card’ for farmers, ‘Mazdoor Card’ for laborers, and ‘Youth Card’ to assist young people in finding employment and receiving educational support. Additionally, he mentioned the ‘Bhook Mitao’ program to address hunger at the union council level.



Responding to questions, Chairman Bilawal criticized the current political climate, emphasizing the need to resolve internal disputes and end hyper-partisanship and polarization. He spoke against the current subsidy policies favouring the elite and proposed reallocating these resources to the poor. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned terrorism and the law and order situation, affirming the PPP’s readiness to participate in the elections despite these challenges.



He further discussed the legal obstacles faced by leaders of other political parties and emphasized PPP’s representation of the common man as opposed to the elite-focused policies of other parties. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also addressed the judiciary’s role in the electoral process, advocating for fair and equal treatment of all political entities.



The PPP chairman concluded by reiterating the party’s commitment to prioritizing the common people of Pakistan, including farmers, laborers, and students. He emphasized the party’s readiness for the upcoming elections and its focus on implementing its detailed manifesto to benefit the broader population.
