Karachi, July 03, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Department of Economics at the College of Economics and Social Development (CESD), IoBM, recently organized a seminar to discuss the economic way forward for Pakistan concerning its relations with IMF. The event titled, Beyond IMF: Redefining Economic Priorities for Sovereignty and Sustainable Growth” invited academicians and researchers to present their views on how to tackle the economic challenges looming over Pakistan. The event was organized under the guidance of Dr. Shahida Wizarat, Dean CESD. Mr. Talib Karim, President IoBM, delivered the Welcome Address. The Seminar was graced by the presence of His Excellency Herman Hardyanata Ahmed, the Malaysian Council General in Karachi, and His Excellency Dr. June Kuncoro, the Indonesian Council General in Karachi.
Invited to present their papers at this Seminar were: Dr. Mirza Aqeel Baig and Mr. Yusuf Aboya (Interest Price and Fiscal Deficit Nexus in Pakistan. Estimating Long-run and Short-run Relationship); Ms. Aijaz Rasheed, Mr. Zia Ullah and Mr. Irfan Lal (Does Devaluation Improve Trade Balance? Case of Pakistan); Mr. Ehsan Shaikh (Impact of Domestic Resource Mobilization on Exchange Rate of Pak Rupee/US Dollar); Mr. Muhammad Zubair and Dr. Shahida Wizarat (Economic and Strategic Implications of Privatization in Pakistan)/ Dr. Shahida Wizarat also delivered a talk on Alternative to the IMF.
