PTI Demands Resignation of Sindh Government Amid Corruption Allegations

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi General Secretary Arslan Khalid has called for the resignation of the Sindh government, citing alleged corruption and mismanagement. Khalid accused the provincial administration of embezzling funds intended for development projects, resulting in significant financial losses. He highlighted an admission by Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani of corruption exceeding Rs 20 billion in his department and questioned the silence of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on the issue.

According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Khalid disclosed several scandals involving large-scale embezzlement. He pointed to allegations of Rs 27 billion in corruption within the World Bank-funded Sindh Solar Energy Project and irregularities in the Yellow Line BRT transit project amounting to Rs 8.5 billion. Additional claims included embezzlement in land acquisition funds for motorways and a recent Rs 2.25 billion scandal at a Sindh Bank branch, which the PTI leader described as a collusion between bureaucrats and banking officials.

Khalid criticized the provincial bureaucracy for prioritizing political affiliations over public service, leading to institutional failures and neglected infrastructure in Karachi. He urged for accountability and demanded that those involved in the alleged corruption be brought to justice.
