Karachi, Altaf Shakoor, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party (PDP), has emphasized the need for the full implementation of the Constitution in Pakistan, highlighting the violation of citizens’ basic rights and the importance of their participation in Parliament. He criticized the current political landscape, accusing politicians of self-interest and incompetence, and urged the public to reject opportunistic politicians.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, Shakoor, in a statement issued by the Pasban Press Information Cell, pointed out the pressing issues facing ordinary citizens, including education, healthcare, employment, safety, housing, dignity, and basic facilities. He questioned the indifference of political parties, intellectuals, and courts towards the fundamental rights of citizens. Shakoor argued that focusing solely on elections while neglecting civil rights is tantamount to violating the Constitution.
Shakoor also spoke about the approaching elections and the tendency of politicians to make grand promises without delivering. He highlighted the dire state of government hospitals and the rising street crime that endangers citizens’ lives and property. Comparing Pakistan’s development trajectory unfavorably with the rest of the world, he lamented the growing disparity between ordinary Pakistanis struggling with basic needs and the privileged few enjoying benefits without cost.
The PDP Chairman’s statement calls for a reevaluation of the country’s priorities, emphasizing the need for ordinary Pakistanis to become aware of their constitutional rights. He underscored the necessity of including common citizens in mainstream politics and ensuring their participation in Parliament, framing this as a constitutional imperative.
