Bahawalpur, July 22, 2023 (PPI-OT):The spokesperson of Islamia University Bahawalpur Shahzad Ahmad Khalid has termed the campaign against the Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur and the institution as the action of the fearless elements. He said that Islamia University Bahawalpur is the great educational institution of the country and Bahawalpur is a valuable asset. All the heads (Vice Chancellors) of this institution always made efforts for the development of the university. Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob has been playing a leadership role in the educational development of South Punjab for the past 8 years. Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology Rahim Yar Khan is the result of the sincere efforts of Dr. Athar Mehboob.

Similarly, the extraordinary development and expansion of Islamia University Bahawalpur has been appreciated at all levels. The objective of the current negative and irresponsible campaign is to stop the ongoing educational activities and development process in the university and to spread violence among teachers and students. Teachers, employees and The students have condemned this insulting and anarchic campaign and demanded that the sanctity and improvement of the institution should be kept in mind in all circumstances. The spokesperson further said that the incidents of arrest of two important officers in recent days are regrettable. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob is in touch with the relevant authorities including police and administration in this regard. The Vice-Chancellor has directed that the blood samples of the heads of teaching and non-teaching departments in the university will be tested so that those involved are brought forward and punished. Similarly, Islamia University Bahawalpur has a zero tolerance policy on anti-drugs and anti-harassment as per the policy of the Higher Education Commission.

The University will hold accountable any officers and faculty members involved in them. The spokesperson said that Islamia University Bahawalpur family consists of 5000 employees and 65000 students and is a great academic asset of the country. Just A negative campaign against the entire organization on the basis of a few incidents is by no means a valid practice. A complete system of reward and punishment in the university is in place and effective at all levels. Students, parents and alumni are assured that the law enforcement agencies are also playing their role and that certain and those guilty of such crimes will be brought to the logical conclusion in all cases.
