Karachi: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Mr. Javed Alam Odho, visited Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) on Thursday, where he was welcomed by the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai. During his visit, Mr. Odho toured significant facilities within the institution, including the Jinnah Museum and the AI Lab, and emphasized the university's motto of serving the nation through education.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, Mr. Odho expressed a deep personal connection to the institution, noting that both his grandfather and great-grandfather were alumni. He encouraged students to prioritize national service alongside personal career growth. Addressing the students at the Hashmat Lodi Youth Development Center, Mr. Odho voiced concerns about youth drug abuse and called for collective efforts from parents, teachers, and peers to guide students onto a positive path. He also announced that SMIU and the Sindh Police would collaborate in artificial intelligence, with plans to sign a memorandum of understanding.

The IGP praised Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai's leadership in modernizing the university while respecting its historical significance. Dr. Sahrai remarked on SMIU's 142-year legacy as a national heritage and its ongoing commitment to providing modern education. The visit concluded with presentations from various department heads who provided insights into their respective areas, underscoring the university's comprehensive approach to education and development.
