Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore and the Al-Jazari Water & Sanitation Academy (AJWA) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster cooperation in research, training, and knowledge exchange within the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector. The agreement, signed by UET Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Shahid Munir and AJWA Principal Dr. Souman Khalid, aims to promote joint research and innovation in areas such as water supply, sanitation, climate change, and public health.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the collaboration will focus on applied research, technology validation, and commercialisation of innovative solutions in the WASH sector. Students from UET will benefit from internships, industrial placements, and technical field visits at AJWA's facilities. The agreement also includes provisions for faculty exchange, guest lectures, and specialised training programmes, as well as co-supervision of research at various academic levels.

The MoU outlines that UET will provide academic and logistical support for joint activities, while AJWA will offer access to laboratories, technical datasets, and field sites. The institutions plan to explore funded research opportunities and specific projects through mutually agreed implementation agreements. The partnership is set to last for three years, with the potential for extension through mutual consent.
