Karachi: Mudassir Sheikha, co-founder and chief executive of Careem, addressed Habib University's Class of 2026 during the institution's 9th Convocation. He encouraged graduates to leverage their education for greater societal impact rather than mere personal comfort.
According to Habib University, Sheikha emphasized the importance of hard work and the favorable circumstances that had allowed the students to reach this point. He urged them to use their advantages to contribute positively to society, focusing on achieving their full potential and addressing real-world problems.
Sheikha offered three pieces of advice to the graduates: mastering their trade by embracing challenging environments, building something of their own by identifying opportunities in societal problems, and enduring through the resilience required to create meaningful contributions. He shared personal anecdotes from his early career and Careem’s history to illustrate these points.
He concluded his speech with a call to action, urging the graduates to pursue a path of endurance, creativity, and societal contribution, and ended with congratulations to the graduates and a nod to their families and educators.
