Pakistan Set for Tri-Series Finale Against Sri Lanka as Coach Hesson Anticipates Strong Performance

Lahore: Pakistan's head coach, Mike Hesson, expressed confidence in his team's potential for a strong performance in the upcoming final of the ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka. The match is set to take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, with the toss scheduled for 12.30 p.m. local time and play beginning at 1 p.m.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan was the first team to secure a spot in the final after achieving three consecutive victories, including a 37-run win over Sri Lanka and an 87-run triumph over England, both at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. A thrilling one-wicket victory against Sri Lanka in Lahore further solidified their position, despite a subsequent eight-wicket defeat to the same team in their final league match.

In an interview with PCB Digital, Hesson shared his satisfaction with the team's performance throughout the tournament, although he acknowledged the need for further improvement. Since taking over as head coach last year, Hesson has led Pakistan to 12 wins in 19 ODIs, with successful series against Australia, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.

Hesson highlighted the consistent contributions from Pakistan's senior batters and praised middle-order players Salman Ali Agha and Hasan Nawaz for their progress. Additionally, he commended the bowling unit's performance, particularly the efforts of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and emerging talent Arafat Minhas.

Reflecting on their recent defeat to Sri Lanka, Hesson noted the shortcomings in batting but remained optimistic about the team's ability to bounce back in the final. He also acknowledged the enthusiastic support from the home crowd and expressed hope for a memorable performance in Lahore.
