Karachi, The Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) has called for immediate action from both the Chief Justice and the Government of Pakistan regarding the alleged repeated sexual assaults on Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani citizen detained in America’s FMC Carswell Jail. PDP Chairman Altaf Shakoor condemned the reported mistreatment and demanded accountability and intervention from Pakistani authorities.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, the incidents of sexual violence against Dr. Siddiqui are being disclosed by her American lawyer, Clive Stafford Smith, who stated that Dr. Siddiqui was assaulted by a prison security guard as a form of punishment just two weeks ago. The statement highlighted the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the continuous neglect by the Pakistani government despite the severity and frequency of these assaults. The PDP expressed dissatisfaction with the Pakistani government’s indifference and its failure to protect its citizens abroad.
The call for action includes a direct appeal to Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, urging him to use his authority to prompt the government to address these serious allegations and to ensure the safety and dignity of Dr. Siddiqui. The party criticized the government for not previously acknowledging or responding to such incidents and insists on a formal condemnation and a demand for accountability from the United States.
